Stable Lives

A documentary world shaped by work, care, memory and the lives built around horses.

01

The lives behind the horses

We don't photograph horses.
We document the lives built around them.

Stable Lives is the equestrian documentary world at the heart of SEE ME IN FULL. It follows the people who arrive before everyone else, stay after everyone leaves and build their lives around horses.

Grooms. Riding-school families. Therapists. Rescuers. Veterinary teams. Owners. Volunteers. Trainers. Communities. And the horses whose lives are intertwined with theirs.

We stay close to the real shape of the day: the work, the weather, the waiting, the recovery, the trust and the routines that carry a life.

Nothing needs to be perfect. Nothing needs to be staged. The value is in truth.

02

What we document

  • The people whose work begins before the yard wakes.
  • Families, grooms, riders, trainers and volunteers.
  • Therapy, rescue, rehabilitation and veterinary care.
  • Riding schools and the communities formed around them.
  • Generations of knowledge, memory and belonging.
  • The relationships that shape both horse and human.

Now seeking stories in Sussex

We are looking for horses, owners, yards and equine professionals with a story worth preserving: not because it is polished, but because it is true.

Tell us about the person, horse, place or relationship you believe deserves to be remembered. Please include where you are based in Sussex, whether yard permission is possible, and why the story matters now.

Tell us your Stable Lives story

Founder's note

Stable Lives was created because the deepest horse stories are often found in the work no one sees.

The early morning. The wet rug. The stable door. The quiet check before leaving. The horse who knows your footsteps. The people who keep showing up.

UPCOMING FILM — SUSSEX

PARKFIELD EQUINE SOLUTIONS

WHERE WORDS END, THE HORSES BEGIN.

Featuring George, Evie, Dream, Alice and Mac.

At Parkfield, change begins in the silence between a person and a horse. Through moments of vulnerability and trust, the film follows what happens when words fall away — and another living presence quietly holds the space for something to shift.

FOUNDER / DIRECTOR

Emilio Daniel Bustamante

I am a documentary filmmaker and visual storyteller based in the United Kingdom.

I don't begin with a camera. I begin by observing.

I am drawn to silence, to light, to memory, and to the quiet moments that reveal who we truly are. My work is not about explaining people. It is about understanding them.

I believe no person should be defined by the hardest thing that has happened to them. Every story deserves care. Every person deserves to be seen in full.

SEE ME IN FULL was born from that belief.

It is a place where stories are listened to before they are filmed, where people are understood before they are portrayed, and where cinema becomes an act of presence rather than observation.

I don't make documentaries to capture reality.

I make them by staying with people long enough for the truth to emerge.

"Context places a person. Closeness reveals them."

Production infrastructure

A MOBILE HOME FOR OUR STORIES

A practical base that allows a small documentary team to work close to the people, horses and places at the centre of each film.

The Mobile Story Base gives the team somewhere to prepare, work and securely store equipment during location filming, without placing an accommodation burden on the organisations whose stories we are there to understand.

At selected events it can also become a quiet public exhibition: a place for photographs, conversations and stories from the documentary work.

Why we film

Some stories don't need more attention.
They need more humanity.
